Venus Transit 2012
I was lucky enough to have the right gear and the right weather to capture the rare Venus Transit of 2012. This is where Venus would travel directly in front of the Sun from our view point, the tiny disc of Venus would eclipse the sun. It was brutally hot that day, well into 100 degrees F, our viewing station was a laptop with a wet towel you could drape over your head while watching the sun turn into a gigantic Pac Man figure. I invited several friends over of for a viewing. We set up a Meade 4 inch with Baader solar filter on the objective, we also had a Coronado scope that allowed us to look directly at the sun. The following are the final processed images from that viewing.
