Hi my name is Dave and some people think that I'm stuck in the 80's... Well... They're right!
My day to day job is teaching Physics and Astronomy to high schoolers here in Austin. At night when I don't have too many papers to grade and the family duties are all done, I spend a lot of free time tinkering with vintage electronics and circuit bending. My evolution of vintage game systems started like many others of my generation. I had a dedicated Pong game that my grandmother got us boys one Christmas. Then my dad bought me an Atari, then an Apple II, then a Vic 20, then a C64. My passion for those imaginative low res 8-bit games never ended, I was constantly trying to find emulators, but playing Defender on a PC just didn't feel right. I needed the real thing, I needed the true vintage original. I got one, and invited friends to games nights. My friends and I had so much fun playing the original, we figured that everyone would like to rekindle their love affair with the Atari and other systems like the NES.
So, I started Epic 8 bit, the only vintage game rental service around! I have spent a lot of time hand picking the right games, cleaning them and repairing the consoles. These are the REAL original consoles with original controllers and original games. I keep my eyes and ears open for rare vintage offerings that will bring our customers the complete 80's 8-bit experience.
MY SCHEDULE CURRENTLY: I am a very dedicated full time teacher so I can only provide the rental service as a "have-fun-and-earn-some-extra-money-after-hours" project so please understand my weekdays are already spoken for.
